bgft ("we", "us") is a personal AI companion you reach by text message, on the web and in an app. This policy says what we hold, why, and how you take it back. The short version: we hold what your Bigfoot needs to know you, we do not sell it, we do not use it for ads, and you can export it or delete it yourself any time.

What we hold

• Your phone number, which is your account. It is how your Bigfoot knows who is talking and where to reply.
• What you tell it: your messages, the photos you send, and what you say by voice. These are what it builds from and remembers.
• What it builds and learns for you: your plans, your logs, your notes, what it knows about you, your settings. You can read all of it on the You screen, correct any fact, and strike any fact.
• Your body, if you connect it: from Apple Health or Health Connect on your phone, with your permission on the phone: steps, sleep, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and workouts with their distance, climb, heart rate and energy. Your Bigfoot reads these to draw Your body, to keep your plans honest, and to speak to what it sees. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone for their own purposes.
• Google, if you connect it: your calendar, the envelopes of your inbox (who wrote, the subject, when; never the body of a mail), and your contacts, read for your day and your people. It sends a mail or places a hold on your calendar only when you press the key on the exact thing it shows you, or under a standing yes you gave and can take back.
• Services you connect (Notion today, more as they come): what a service holds, read when you ask about it. A change on a service happens only when you press the key. Your sign-in to a service is stored encrypted and is never shown to the AI.
• Your people, if you share them: the contacts and calendar you choose to share from your phone, so your Bigfoot can help you keep up with them. It never messages anyone but you.

How we use it, and who else sees it

Only to be your Bigfoot: to talk with you, to build what you ask for, and to notice what matters. To generate its replies, your Bigfoot sends what it needs from the above to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. Nothing you give us is sold, rented, or used for advertising, and we have no advertising. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing. Your data is kept out of any other purpose than being your companion.

Text messaging

You opt in by texting our number first, or by signing in to the app with your number. Message frequency varies with how you use your Bigfoot; you set the hours it may reach you and how often. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time and it goes quiet until you say START; reply HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Your data is yours

What your Bigfoot knows about you is kept in readable files that belong to you. On the You screen you can read what it knows, correct it, strike it, see everything it did on your behalf, take back any standing yes, disconnect any service, download everything as one file, and delete it yourself. A delete removes everything we hold for you, the copies we keep for recovery, and the links you shared; the backup copies beyond immediate reach expire on their own within ninety days.

Retention and security

We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you delete it. Sign-ins to your services are encrypted at rest with a key the AI never sees. Anything that leaves on your behalf, a mail, a hold, a change on a service, is shown to you exactly and waits for your key. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data; no system is perfectly secure, and if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you.

Children

bgft is for adults. We do not knowingly hold data from anyone under 18; if you believe we do, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes, and a change that matters to you is said to you by your Bigfoot before it takes effect.
